Every modern rail vehicle equipped with an electric train supply requires an UIC connector. This is necessary for the electric train supply in order to conduct the central power supply (e.g. air conditioning or car illumination) right from the traction unit to every single car. Our UIC 552 VE connector system has been designed for fulfilling this purpose.
In order to achieve this technically, appropriate connectors are needed between the traction unit all the other rail vehicles. The connector complies with UIC 552 requirements.
In addition to the UIC 552 conventional plug-in connection system in the M0 version, era-contact also proposes the improved UIC 552 connector system in the M1 type with its specially patented pilot contact.

We generate new product ideas according to the wishes and requirements of our customers. Here we take into account how the market will develop and which requirements will have to be fulfilled in the next 5 years.
Solutions for the transmission of signals, data and power in the most limited space are our speciality. Alongside the tried and tested contacts male/female and push/fixed version with galvanic transmission, we are developing a wide range of new innovative solutions.
We are particularly proud of the products from the era-transceiver® family, which allow a secure active signal and data transmission up to 1,000 Mbit/s. They are available in 2 versions for 100 and 1,000 Mbit/s. This means that we can offer our customers a maintenance-free system that requires the minimum of space to transmit the greatest possible quantity of data and signals between the vehicles. At the moment we are working on the new generation of the era-transceiver®, which can transmit up to 10 Gbit/s. This solution is also available for retrofitting.
Our couplings not only transmit signals, data and electrical energy; as of this year we have also developed products that can even transmit fluid media. In collaboration with our partners, we have integrated this feature in our coupling systems. These are used widely in the rail technology, industry and construction machinery.
The wheel flanges in trains are constantly lubricated in order to reduce wear and tear on the rails and noise. This is a burden on the environment. The use of lubricants, however, is only necessary in curves, which means that the environment suffers disproportionately. Thanks to our already existing GPS unit, which we developed for the railway sector, we can make an important contribution here towards saving our customers money and, above all, protecting the environment. Working jointly with SNCF we developed an application which helps substantially in taking the burden off the environment: The GPS registers the position of the vehicle. In accordance with the predefined geographical data, the wheel flanges are then supplied with lubricant at certain points only. Depending on the route conditions, this concept saves up to 80 % lubricant and thus makes a considerable contribution towards protecting the environment.
We hold 12 patents and numerous trademarks. Thanks to close collaboration with scientific institutes and organizations such as wbk and KIT, we can justifiably call ourselves a technology leader!
